Leave a Legacy
Planned gifts are a meaningful way to leave a legacy that will help the Guggenheim Fellowship program continue to thrive.
Your planned gift could support:
The overall Fellowship program
One of the Fellowship program’s four field categories, which include Creative Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences, or Social Sciences
A specific field of study, such as Photography, U.S. History, Biology, or Economics
A Fellowship
There are many ways to include the Guggenheim Foundation in your estate plans:
Bequest: You can include the Guggenheim Foundation in your will or trust by designating a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or by naming the Foundation as a residuary beneficiary, allowing your gift to come from the remaining portion of your estate after other bequests.
Retirement Assets: You can name the Guggenheim Foundation as a beneficiary of your retirement account, or support the Fellowship program through a qualified charitable distribution. Please see special instructions for IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions below.
Appreciated Securities: You can donate appreciated stocks or bonds.
Life Insurance: You can designate the Guggenheim Foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
Royalties: You can designate all or a portion of your royalties. For example, Philip Roth, 1959 Guggenheim Fellow in Fiction, bequeathed 100% of the royalties from all of his books to support Fellowships.
IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you have an IRA and you are age 70 1/2 or older, you can make a gift directly from your IRA account to support the Guggenheim Fellowships. Please instruct your IRA distributor to direct the gift to the Fund for the Guggenheim Fellowships, a public charity that supports the Fellowship program.
The Fund for the Guggenheim Fellowships is a tax-exempt organization described in section 501(c)(3) and a public charity under section 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Federal Tax ID for the Fund for the Guggenheim Fellowships is 85-1338112.
